Sava.in: Packaging Policy for textile export shipments

1. The Specification regarding packaging and marking given by the buyer are to be followed.
2. In case of any variations the buyer is to inform and approval to be taken for any change well in time.

B. Where no specific instructions are given by buyers:

1. Carton/Package weight and dimensions:
     a. Ensure that the weight of a carton/Package does not exceed 25.00 Kgs.
     b. The size of cartons/Package do not exceed 0.25 Cubic meters (CBM)
     c. No measurement should be greater than 1.00 meter.

2. Packaging:
     a. Ensure that goods are folded and placed in carton in such a manner that there is no damage or crushing of the products.
     b. Inner packs to be made wherever necessary for convenient handling at the customer‘s end.
     c. Strapping of cartons outside should be adequate so that there is no possibility of opening or damage in transit.
     d. Whether conditions should always be considered. During Monsoon season in Delhi or Port/Destination of shipment all cartons should be properly wrapped with polysheet.
     e. Adhesive tapes and straps should be of good quality & specific color so that any tampering in transit/port/destination may be avoided.

C. Quality of Packaging materials:
     a. All outer cartons to be of minimum 7 ply. Higher ply rating to be used depending upon the total weight of carton/contents inside.
     b. All inner cartons to be of 3/5//7 ply.
     c. Poly bags should be of minimum 150 Gauge.
     d. Self Adhesive polyvinyl bags to be used as far as possible.
     e. Strapping materials to be of approved/Standard quality.
     f. Adhesive Tapes to be approved/Standard quality.
     g. Drop test must be performed for all incoming cartons.

D. Markings:

    a. The markings must be explicit and bold.
    b. All cartons must be marked with Net weight Gross weight Carton Number Destination Buyer’s Code, Qty Product description.
    c. All cartons must be marked with Fragile-Handle with care for all products which warrants carefully handling.

INTERNAL GUIDELINES (Packaging)

    a. In case the packaging details are not available for any specific items the packaging is to be determined as soon as the goods start coming in from the fabricators so that there is adequate time to order correct packaging materials.
    b. All packaging material is to be purchased from vendors from the approved list of suppliers.
    c. Our endeavor is to ensure perfect packaging and therefore the packaging standards and materials used should be reviewed every quarter or biannually.
    d. Quality check of packaging materials to be carried out such as Drop test.
